Terracotta Warrior Sculptures Tank Loft Contemporary Arts Center Chongqing Commissioned by the ATP for the Tennis Master Cup Shanghai - 2007 |
Laury Dizengremel,
along with fellow Chinese sculptors Shen Xiaonan and Zhang
Yaxi created the 8 Tennis Terracotta Warriors for the ATP / Tennis
Master Cup Shanghai 2007. Each monumental tennis statue is
approx. 2m20 in height.
This shot of the tennis player statues was created by our friend David McBride who is a keen photographer and teaches animation at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. We didn't have the time to line the Warriors up in any particular order, but they looked great against one of the walls of the Tank Loft Contemporary Arts Center in Chongqing where our studio is located. David took this in several timed images and did his magic... so the wall look curved rather than straight! From left to right, tennis warriors: Fernando Gonzalez, Richard Gasquet, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Andy Roddick, Nikolay Davydenko and David Ferrer.
